Or in plain English: the Dalmatian Pelican.
Lake Kerkini Greece end of february.
The adults are in their brightest colors at that time, as it is the start of their breeding season.
Wonderful series, Koen; I was going to say exactly what Tim did!
These are fabulous; amazing colors and textures. I love the second shot not only for its artistic impact, but also because it shows how unusual this species is compared to other pelicans. The only thing missing is a brown pelican for comparison; I guess they are about half the size of the Dalmations!
Beautiful set, Koen. This is my first time seeing this pelican. I love every single pic here as it all has its special. Great white feather detail, "facial" expression of the pelican.... Great work.
OUTSTANDING! And I am not one to shout, but these are almost too good. The eye is almost haunting but the spread of the feathers in the second and the close up in the last are spectacular. Sometimes it all comes together...this is one of those times!

What a powerful set. #1, 3 and 4 for me. Very low angle the key to this superb series of images. I don't think I've seen images of this species posted on this board before. Thanks for sharing! -Mike
