Congratulations to boydsmith40 for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 2 votes - View Previous Winners
My wife was unable to line up a couple of the photographers she knew to take our son's photos, so I brought home the camera and tried my hand at it.
These are for his 2 year photos that will most likely go up on the wall. Critiques welcome...

I had a Superman style shirt under that with an L instead of an S. Was trying to get him to stand there and hold it open but he wasn't going for that. Then just tried unbuttoning the shirt and getting him to run at me. Unfortunately he would never look up at me while running so I just couldn't get that shot.

Well, Boyd- my suggestion is to never get anyone else to photograph your son, and you take him out for photo shoots at least once a month for the next several years.
These are excellent pics by any realistic measure, and since it's your kid and your canine member of the family- each image is priceless.
More than a couple of these shots had me smiling and laughing.
Charlie
Oh, and don't "over-direct" him- he does fine like this.

While I would have liked to have seen a little sharper focus on your son's face in each, I must say they are all adorable images. Photographing little ones can be difficult since they often hold a pose for only milliseconds.
Good job!
Thanks!

Oh- two more suggestions:
NEVER tell or ask him to "Look at the camera." If you want him to look at you, say something else that'll make him look. And be ready to click the shutter NOW. If he has to wait for you, that'll be when you start getting all those terrible, frozen-smile, phony pics people take of their children.
NEVER tell or ask him to smile. If you can't say or do anything that causes him to smile naturally- they quickly move on to something else.
The best pics will be more of what you have here- your son being himself.
Charlie
Oh, the hat and tie are cute here- but don't over-use props.

Wow, really didn't think these would draw this kind of response. Appreciate all the comments.
As for the sharpness, I wish it was there too. I could create a multitude of excuses but rather than that, I will just fix it next time.
We are very happy with the end shots. I have actually had a few of my wife's friends request me to try and capture some of their children. We will see how that pans out.
Oh and as for the watermark comment, that gets removed when it gets printed out...
