Wow! A terrific set, Kirk.
But OMG!!! Those flying avocet images are beyond suitable adjectives.
The Peanut Gallery has no choice except to say they are swell pictures.
Charlie
Humble thanks for the very kind and suitable words Charlie... The Avocets are gorgeous for sure.

Wow. A stunning set, Kirk, from that gorgeous IF Avocet to the plain old (but beautiful, nonetheless) female shoveler. Backgrounds, poses, lighting; all just perfect. I can't decide whether the Avocets look more graceful in flight or not; your set adds to that indecision!
Greg
Humble thanks for the very generous words Greg, most appreciated... and so glad you enjoyed the set.

These are super, Kirk! All properly exposed with beautifully rendered color tones and clean and sharp detail.
Great isolation of the subjects and pleasing lighting.
2 and 4 are on top of my favorites
Socrate
Your very gracious words are so much appreciated Socrate... thanks for the picks too.
Kirk,
I have watched your work for quite some time. This series really shows how you have advanced and put a lot of dynamics into your photos. Just a thought from a very novice photographer.

Super duper Kirk!!! What a killer set. There are times I wish I had shots like 1 every time I visit I guess you missed my last 2 times there buried under marine air My how we forget
1 is a stunner, perfect techs my friend. What a fabulous pose!
2 is a classic and as close to perfect as I've seen. Tough to nit this baby!
3 love the spring in the pose, I'm mixed on the neighbors in the bg, both good and less than ideal
4 I'll nit you on the wing position, geez I have to find something to whine about Sharp stem to stern unlike most if's
5 uggh, not the green end wonderful isolation, some distraction fore and aft.
6 oh yeah baby, one of my favorite ducks in a stunner of a shot. I might crop it tighter on the top and bottom. I'm thinking more of a pano look without the distractions up top and just enough bottom to balance the thirds
7 awful nice
8 a fitting end and another great shot
Really nice Kirk, man you were firing on all cylinders
Yeah... the marine layer has been nasty in the mornings, but it usually blows out or burns off by the time I get to my magic spot.
3 - I wasn't thrilled with the BG boids either at first, but I'm minding less and less... would still prefer if they were someplace else.
4 - Just trying something other than several I've already posted of wings up or down... going for the bullet look.
6 - I tried a pano crop thinking that was for sure the best way to go, but I wasn't satisfied as much as with what you saw here.
So much appreciate the always thoughtful and helpful feedback Tim... thanks buddy.

You must be a bird whisperer or something to get that close at 400mm! Superb set Kirk!
Charles
Thanks Charles... actually I just have to lay patiently and these beauties will eventually wander right up to me.
It's a great spot that always produces some nice keepers.

Even though you frequent this 'pond' you seem to add to or create a little something extra that keeps them all fresh
#1 fine IF work Kirk, elegant exposure and form. The variegated BG linear banding adds a nice element and picks up some nice ties to the tones in the bird. If I had to nit it would be.............not worth hitting
#2 Yes indeed, your signature shot and a strong one at that!
#3 you could clone out the company Nice trio
#4 now you know I like Shovelers, now you know I like a pano crop, now you know how much I like this one
#5 it takes a good eye and a good photographer to make a Coot look 'sexy'..........congrats!
#6 this shows your talents for 'seeing' and 'feeling' a shot, you did fine on this standout shot buddy!
#7 shhhh..........love the tranquility here........lovely image
#8 darn beautiful Kirk, love the radiance of light from the wings. One tiny nit............and it is about 3/8in in front of the beak
I was just going to say 'fine job' but I saw more than that here

You're so kind Karl, really appreciate the very gracious words buddy. I am always aware of trying to keep things "fresh"... there were many fine images from this session that I chose not to post because they looked too similar to recent posts... maybe they'll come out of the vault in a few months.
I too would prefer #3 without the company but still don't have your cloning skillz.
Good thing for the Coot there was a green end of the pond to frame him in.
Thanks for the nod on #6... I played with a pano crop but didn't end up liking it as much as what you saw here.
Duly noted your spot-on nit in front of Ms. Shov.
So glad you enjoyed these and thanks again for the very thoughtful words... most appreciated my friend.
