Excellent low angle shots, Kirk. The images are leaping off my monitor!
Great quality of the light and wonderful detail in all of these
#3 and 4 are my favorites

Wow. Somehow I missed this post earlier, so I'm glad it got bumped back up. That angle is so low, the water is so smooth, and the background is so creamy; well, it just doesn't get any better!
My favorite (along with most others) is the duckling; the light, composition, and pose are stellar, and it doesn't hurt that the subject is so cute.

Yup nothing good here, move on people, go home, the much sought after subject is nowhere to be found.
Oh you kill me Kruk! You offer up a set of stellar images and apologize!
A couple of thoughts... as pretty and expertly shot as the Avocets are I'm partial to the Dowitcher, that one just jumped out of the monitor at me. The eye is sharp enough but... I'm betting that is in the dof and focus fell on the flapping area. Oh yes a minor and perhaps flawed critique but it's all I have to push you with!
The baby mallard is such a strong eye holder, wow it's hard to scroll past that shot. It's not JUST a cute duckling it is a wonderfully strong image.
Excellent work all around Kirk, I'm trying to nit but damn you make it soooooo difficult to be a cranky old curmudgeon!
It's always good out there and I always come home with some keepers... I was just hoping to get the Avocet chicks but they were staying safely and frustratingly far off in the distance.
You hit the Dowitcher perfectly, I love the pose but almost didn't post it for the reason you noticed... I knew you would notice.
Thanks for the good words and especially the nit, always appreciate it buddy. Just got back froma few days in Yosemite with my wife and daughter... hopefully the Avocet chicks are braver now, we'll see this weekend.

The best BG of the pond anywhere that I've seen Kirk! The calm water is antiher added bonus. Of course, your consistency, your subjects and low angle approach made awesome shots every time! I do have a one-legged Avocet at our local pond too. Great series!

Many thanks for the wonderful words Khai, always appreciated.
It's a dream spot with all the right elements... it's like my personal outdoor studio.
great stuff kirk, the baby mallard is a really strong shot. love how low you are on these. lb dowitcher is a species we don't often see here so big ups for getting him.
Nice set Kirk. I was at the pond yesterday and got almost all the same shots including the Mallard chick. Love the bathing shot. Hope to see you there soon.
