Everything about this image is so cool. The light is truly magic as the plumage on these birds really pops and contrasts so nicely with reds. Add in the unique behavior... so many would count themselves lucky to photograph a single guillemot in great light, but to capture a menage a trois... you are a skilled guy!

Bruce you are too kind!! Like I said I this is the shot I have been trying for many years, this burst, and so early in the shoot, really is special to me. Thanks so much!!
In fact, I appreciate the current image more in the context of your series from last year. Much better light (fantastic, really) this year, and the composition and pose of this shot is superb. But I loved the humor from last year's set ("Get out of here you perv!") and encourage others to revisit that wonderful post as well.
Look forward to seeing a bit more from that 200 gb!

Yes Greg, this is odd behavior, I do think now that I have some nice shots of it I will research it a lot more heavily myself. In the matter of a few hours I saw this happen 3 times out of 4 mountings, a damn high percentage.
