I think the bears are checking out the new lens Scott.
"Is that the new 200-400?"
"Naw - it's too soon to see one in the field."
"Sure does look like the new lens to me."
A very nice set. I'd be happy with any one of these ~ Ron
gpchase: Not the first, but perhaps the 5th - or tie for 3. It was hard to wait but it was good to hear the positive IQ ratings as I waited. Maybe the first grizzlies with the 200-400?? Glad you like the pictures. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
douter: They were cautious when I was shooting at 200mm. Me too. Glad you like 3. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
surfnron: Or - who would be crazy enough to shoot with such a short lens. Glad you like the pictures. It was a great day. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Excellent work! Especially since it was your first time out with the new lens!
Keep 'em coming. Looking forward to the next batch.
Woops - I missed your post. It was very lucky to find grizzlies on the first time out with a new lens. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
canadajim: Glad you like the family of bears. The lens is working well. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
James McQueen: Glad you like the images. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
morris: Glad you like the lst 2. It made me shakey at short mm settings. But they moved toward me over about 5 minutes and were used to me, so I felt they were safe. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
tfoltz: The young bears were quite curious about what I was up to. The mom pretended that I was not there. Glad you like 3. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
oldrattler: Glad you are impressed. The lens works well. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
It looks like a very low light day but it looks like the new gear is quite capable and has quick changing versatility on reach or retraction. This should be a great lens for your type of shooting Scott!

Yesterday I got my new 200-400.
So, after work, of course I rushed out to Kananaskis Country and found some Swainson's Hawks, Bighhorn, Moose, Coyote and Grizzly. It was an impressive bunch that came out to pose for the new lens.
I now have about 4000 pictures that I need to sort through. Life is tough.
Here are some of my better ones but expect to see more.
Comments and feedback are appreciated. Scott

Wow! thx for posting! One can really see the personality/attitude of those bears!
Scott,
its getting mighty difficult to comment on your posts and say anything different. So I wont.
All show excellent technical control, compositions, and an astonishing intimacy with the wildlife.
You have long mastered this genre.. (and your landscapes aint bad either)
Keep 'em coming.
