Recently, I had a chance to do some birding in Malaysia and I was very lucky to capture quite a few different species despite of being off season this late of year. Lighting condition was very challenging compared to what we have here in the states and recent forrest burning in the neighboring country made it even worse: adding a layer of haze in the air, therefore, ISO was always high while shutter speed set low.
I would like to start out sharing with 5 out of the 13 Kingfisher species found there. Sure hope I will get a chance to collect the remaining 8 species one day but they are definitely harder to get.
Great collection of fine KF images, Phoo! You managed to get some good clarity and sharpness out of these images, considering the situation
2, 5 and 8 are my favorites

I echo LOUDLY the comments of the previous posters...well done and thank you for sharing these great images for us on the other side of the big pond...
fantastic phoo! the first shot is outstanding. i also really like the 5th shot with the really clean bg. very nice. make me wish we had more than 3 species of kingfishers here in the states!
Super duper work Phoo Checking the exif shows that you really know what you are doing both with your technique and knowledge. Can't wait for you to go back and get the rest of the species !!!! Is the 800 new to you?
