Congratulations, Eric. Well deserved! This is a wonderful tribute to a beautiful animal! I know you had special feelings for Olive. You have all my sympathy.
Socrate
Eric, I've been almost completely absent from here for a few months -- this is a great series to come back to. What a beautiful cat, and what a great set of photos. Whenever we start brooding over our troubles we should consider what "real" life is like out there... many thanks for telling this story.

Thanks my friend...how bittersweet to have this honor. Truly, I would have loved nothing better than produce more shots of her in the years to come.

She was quite special and all that were lucky to see her, whether in action, or just lounging about were lucky to glimpse such a beautiful cat.

A sad ending to such a beautiful animal. You where very fortunate to see this amazing cat.

Much appreciated Todd. I was indeed fortunate and also almost saw her meet her end a year plus earlier...she probably had a few close calls over the years including the one we saw when she was almost taken out by a large male lion.

Thanks so much Socrate...we rarely are able to connect with wild animals because recognizing individuals is almost impossible...but with the cats it is relatively easy....and this one, with her calm demeanor around vehicles, her bold nature when it came to hunting and her ability to bring up multiple cubs to adulthood made her quite special.
It is a shame she met with a violent death but to think it would end otherwise is just folly....having some finality and knowing that she is gone does take the mystery out of what would have just been her "disappearance".

Lovely tribute Eric. I know how attached we can get to certain special subjects such as Olive in the natural world.
cheers, Steve
Many thanks Steve....for a cat that had been through so much...it's amazing just how beautiful and unmarked she remained until the end.

Hey Mark...welcome back and I'm glad you liked the series. And for sure we do sweat the small stuff...for these guys, everyday brings the uncertainty of life and death.
Eric
Wow, what a magnificent series of images. What an honor you had to follow & photograph such a Royal animal & it was a special privilege for me to witness her through your images. As is the case often on this forum, I will never have the opportunity to see these wonderful animals in their natural habitat, so I really do appreciate your threads!!
A sad event for sure, but nature does move on as will her cubs for sure.
