A photo of Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, in Kyoto, Japan.
This was originally built in the 14th century as a Shogun's villa but later converted to a Zen temple. It has had a few fires - the last was in 1955 when it had a pretty major rebuild. The gold leaf on the top two floors was last renewed in the 1980's.
An issue I'm having with this file is displaying it. In HDR on my HDR capable Apple display the highlights in the gold look quite pleasant. However, when posted to Facebook, displayed on an SDR monitor or viewed in Safari the highlights just look flattened and washed out - really not what it looked like in person.
Posted here in Google Chrome I get the nicer HDR version, but it looks pretty washed out in Safari.
