As Eric has already hinted at with his excellent post of a Leopard eating a Zebra, he and I just finished a photo safari in Botswana. Eric has been prodding me to go for a while now and last year he finally got me to pull the trigger. I figured if I owas ever going to do a trip like this I might as well go with an expert and Eric surely fits the bill there! He picked 3 camps for us to stay at, each with their own different flavor of experience and boy did he ever pick well. I cannot describe what a wonderful time I had, I'm still saying wow to myself while I relive the trip organizing the massive amount of shots I got. We shot from pre-sunrise to post-sunset everyday, sleeping very little and grinning like little kids the whole time.
Eric you are one hell of a guy, thank you my friend.
Here is a shot of Painted Dogs in the midst of a hunt that culminated in the kill of a female kudu.
Tim this is gorgeous, the lowish angle and tight framing rocks, And the lead dog's intense pose with the oof followers is super. Magazine cover stuff here.
Wow! Where was I when this was going on...oh yeah trying to decided if I was a photographer or a filmmaker . Yup we had a great time and I think we have enough material for at least a year or more....
I can't wait to see your stuff, it will probably force me to go back sooner than later. Thanks for the shout out my friend. Welcome home!
Eric
Thought I was going to be first, Tim. I have been back browsing the forum the past couple of weeks and noted your absence. I figured you might be off on your safari. Great first pic, I look forward to more. Did you take your 800?
Welcome back, Tim! This is a haunting image; these guys look hungry. And wild. Beautiful capture, and I'll look forward to seeing many more from both of you!
Tim,
The Peanut Gallery thinks this is a swell picture.
"Here, Fido" may not work with these amazing canines .
Endangered they are, I understand. All the better that you and Eric had the chance to watch and photograph the pack.
Congrats and mind-numbing jealosy- at the same time .
