Although it has a stigma that alcohol hasn't attracted it is no more ugly than booze. Most of the junkies I knew were a mix of the highly private or highly sociable. They certainly weren't to be found looking for someone to punch in the face at 1a.m. on otherwise civil streets. More likely they'd be at parties of the in crowd.
