Congratulations to Fred Miranda for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 4 votes - View Previous Winners
The colors came for a couple minutes and then disappeared behind the heavy clouds. I was able to set-up my Sony A7R and Samyang 14mm f/2.8 and capture this 2 second exposure. I was completely alone there.
By the time I tried shooting with other lenses, the colors were gone.
Very little post-processing.
Thanks for viewing,
Fred
Great title. It really looks like that when your focused on the lower section.
I like the darker tone to it, which really makes the "fire" stand out. Way to be ready when that 2 minute window of opportunity appeared.
I don't know if this would work, but try cropping about 25% of the sky off and see if that helps.
Beautiful capture,
How cool is this! The darker salt flats are really working with that fire in the sky you got. Good job on getting this, sometimes 2 mins is all we get to shoot the color before it's gone, it's great you got this.
Nice Fred! It's a good thing you were able to come away with a great photo from the short light show. Love the contrast in the bright colors above and dark colors below.

I've been known to photograph in the nude when alone. ( unless there's prickers )
Lol Matt! That has to be the most random comment ever! If I ever see a naked guy in the middle of no where, I'll know who it is
Fred,
You almost have two subjects in this excellent image.
Hard to make that work unless one is a mirror of the other. IMO these DO, however, complement each other.
Well done- and spectacular.

you are the shiznit! like the gloomy...almost "Lord of the Rings" look to it.
It was definitely a gloomy day!
I actually went there without any hopes of capturing the dawn colors as the clouds were getting thicker by the minute.

Thanks for the feedback Kelly.
I kept the overall "low-key" tones to better describe what I saw that evening. It didn't last long but it was a beautiful light show.
