7 meters of rain a year here, many people dont get to see anything apart from rain. We camped, my tent poles froze into the tent, sunset, sunrise , terrible.
But oh my, clear skies! After a 4am start for Mt Cook and a 7 hour drive, and feeling really rough from a bug I dragged myself out and waited for the MW to drop in the sky just over the famous Mitre Peak. The tide rushing in during the 33 frames it took for the pano meant wet feet but that was totally worth it...
That is really an outstanding image and the effort paid off. I am finding it increasingly difficult to drag myself out there when Photo Pills tells me the optimum time is 2-4 in the morning, especially if its freezing out. Great job.
No stacking of exposures, only stitching. I processed the file set twice once for stars once for ground, stitched both sets and blended later, here is a mosaic of the star set

Now, I know I will be the minority because hyper Milkyway shots are the rave today, but I like more subtle Milky way shots. So, I would pull back on its luminescence a bit.
