Patrick - these are all in the 1/4 second - .3 second type range, except for the one with the frozen water, obviously I find this is a good shutter speed for nice water that is blurred with some remaining texture. I've gone up to 2 seconds or so, and maybe experimented even longer, but that's about the max I usually go to. Obviously a solid tripod and good technique is very important here!
Thanks Chris - most helpful. Blurring the water more would be less to my taste.
I'll have to experiment next time we have some nice waves on the Chesapeake with a stiff southerly.
Not the same as a flowing river but good for practice I hope!
