Hello all! I spend most of my time over in the wedding forum, but love popping over here as well. Over a year ago I started a thread on the wedding forum called, "Dealing with what you're given". As a wedding photographer I'm often tossed into tough situations, and I have to try and come away with good photos. On Saturday the bride got ready at the church, and the getting ready room was cluttered and dirty. Right outside of the room was a dingy hallway. As the bride was getting into her dress, I was waiting in the hallway until she was decent. While out there I noticed some nice light coming in from the window. After she got ready I asked to do a few bridal portraits in the hallway, and I'm really pleased with the results. Here's the situation and what I was able to come away with...
You spent your hang time wisely, morby -- that's some tasty lemonade you've squeezed out of the lemons you were handed. I think you could have had the bride with her back to the light, used fill light or reflector and come away with a great photo, also. You took crappy light and produced excellent images. Remember the old days when ISOs about 400 were just a dream?
Thanks! Higher ISO capabilities definitely goes a long way.
