Well I was considering getting into this weeks contest after sitting on the sidelines for so long, but I might wait another week now that I've seen this beautiful image! Very nice Birdie! What fantastic colors and contrast (and not only the contrast of the colors, but also the light and dark, and in-focus and out-of-focus)...it has it all! Best of luck.

(one more thing...these guys are in my backyard too and I can't make nectar fast enough for our feeder. I need more flowers to take the load off of the feeder. What is the flower in this image?)

Jon, you are far too kind , thank you. Please do enter .
Lucky you to have so many hummingbirds. This year the numbers seem down for us ( I'm in south Louisiana).
The flower is called Mexican Sunflower (Tithonia). Very easy to grown . They also love Black and Blue Salvia, Porter Weed and Cigar Bush.
Do you photograph your hummingbirds ? It can become very addicting

Thanks Birdie...I will see what inspiration strikes me and try to come up with something for this week. And thanks for the flower recommendations. I will write these down and check our local nursery to see if I can find something they like besides sugar water. I have photographed them in the past with some big glass, but I've recently changed my gear and only have 2 lenses right now (16-35mm and 55mm). The 55mm will allow me to shoot them at the feeder right outside the kitchen window, but a hummingbird at a flower is far more attractive, as you have shown above.

Forgot to mention that the Mexican Sunflowers I have only found in seeds, no actual plants. I order them from the internet. The other flowers I can not find locally, but do order from Almost Eden Nursery . I have always been satisfied with the quality of their plants.
