I'm looking forward to your tests between the Batis 135 and the VC 65
Really more interested in your 135 tests as I been twisting your arm for awhile now. Lol

I've never looked into this. Is the Otus 28/1.4 APO, the only wide angle apochromatic lens out there?
I've already been looking for an APO wide, all I've found is the Otus 28, and this: http://www.slrmagic.info/product/APO+HyperPrime+CINE+APO25PL
I contacted them to see if they had any plans to house it in a normal lens body, and their reply was not at this time...
Also this: Schneider 24mm f/5.6 Apo-Digitar XL, and, Rodenstock 35mm f/4.5 Apo-Grandagon
I'm looking forward to a CV 65/2 Macro APO vs Leica R 60/2.8 Macro comparison.
Not sure the Leica r 60 has a chance against this thing. Just playing around and this thing is a freaking laser. I'll start testing in the morning . Will see but anyone want to bet donuts against it, I'm in.

It's time for someone to make a 28/2.4 APO E-mount.
Although certainly no APO, the Loxia 21/2.8 is very well corrected for CA. (Especially LoCA)
After testing my just acquired Batis 135/2.8, I have to say that the Loxia 21/2.8, CV 65/2 and Batis 135/2.8 are the best lenses I have. We just need a moderate wide angle at this level now (28-35mm).

I wonder what the new CV40/1.2 will be, will it be APO too?
It won't be APO
(1) It's just too small to be apochromatically corrected at an f1.2 aperture
(2) They don't have APO in the name, and if the axial CA correction was great, you can bet they would have.
I'm also expecting that it'll be pretty unsharp off axis at wide apertures; again because of the size, even taking into account the mirrorless advantage (compare it with the ZA 1.4/35; and before anyone says that is just a DSLR design it really isn't: look at the placement of the elements)
None of that is to say it might not be a great lens. If it sharp *on* axis and in a decent usable sweet spot over a fair bit of the frame at wider apertures, and if it's sharp across the field stopped down, and the if LoCA is not too bad, it could be a sweet lens. We'll see.

I've been thinking about the Batis 135 APO, ever since I got this 65 APO.
I haven't torture tested it, but the Sigma Art 135, which I really like, has very little CA. I wonder if the tradeoff in speed for the Batis would be worth the difference...
It seems that the new glass formulations and techniques are solid enough that new lenses can work with some outer frame astigmatism as well as minimize CA to small and very acceptabe levels, whether labeled APO or not. The battlegrounds in moderate aperture FE lenses are 28mm, 35mm and 50mm in the near future.
Bluloo, you can check the very extensive Sigma 135mm -vs- Batis 135mm a month or two back.

This might sound like heresy but I have mixed feelings about a 28/2.4 APO E-mount. This thread is making it increasingly clear that the Macro Apo-Lanthar 65/2 is a gateway drug to further APO ownership. I know I couldn't resist a 28mm APO E-mount but then I'd be unhappy that I didn't have 50mm and 90mm APO lenses to match it.
It's funny I read a lot of negatives on this VC65 n other sites, glad I don't pay attention to any of them but if the whiners actually shot the damn thing maybe they would get it. For us pixel peeping souls this thing has a place in your kit. Get over it's a 65mm it's actually a lovely focal length
Alright I'm pulling from memory. There is a 28mm shift lens made by Schneider badged under the Leica R brand name. I remember it being pretty darn good too. I wonder if that's worth looking at.

I'm still betting that, if you love the 35/1.2II, you're going to love the 40/1.2.
