It's a slow burn lens with so much to recommend it. I'd dearly love to carry one having seen some barely credible images from it, from many users. About 1:2, totally agree and the trend to this config proves the design move was the right one. You get 1:1 on the 110/2.5.
65mm is a small step up from the traditional 50-60mm, and you get the extra stop too, Cosina's asph integration is excellent and the APO shows even in small images, use with confidence! The lens helps fill in the longstanding FL hole (ex-Leica) from 50mm to 85mm too.
Agreed and i wish Cosina would make a 20mm and 35/40mm version of this lens!

Well, Cosina does have two very nice 21mm lenses and a very nice 40mm lens. APO lenses that wide are not easy to make if that is what you are after. It would be quite an achievement to make an APO lens at those focal lengths and keep them small and I can't imagine that you could keep them fairly small and cheap. What I really want from Cosina is a 28mm lenses either f/2 or f/1.4 would suit me well and I would really like a 100mm f/2 that was not APO and was small. Something exactly like their new 75mm f/1.5 lens just a little longer focal length and f/2 would suit me fine to keep it small. The would give me CV lenses of 21 f/1.4, 28 f/2 (or f/1.4), 50 f/1.2, and 100 f/2. For me that is my dream set of lenses.
Just picked up a voigtlander 65mm today and went around testing it. Was just focusing on this flower and the butterfly flew on it by chance. Really depressed the second image is out of focus, but I really like the composition. Hopefully I'll get better at this, never done macro photography before and the wind really didn't help me out either.
I posted this in the FE Images thread, but I want to give this thread and this lens some love. I once tried to sell it but I'm so glad I kept it. It's become such a useful lens for product, macro, and landscapes. Here's a 1:2 macro I took of a praying mantis while visiting Japan recently.
Well, I bought one. Arrived a few days ago and off I went. I'm highly impressed (not easy to do). Spectacular results with my A7rIII and A7rIV. Beautiful lens. Glad I read through this whole thread from years ago...
I am using peaking and magnified view though the EVF for critical focus and have had virtually perfect results since getting the lens ... even wide open or just slightly stopped down. A7rIV. If the subject is relatively close and moving (ie: if there is a breeze) I’ll shoot a burst as DOF is shallow and I’m swaying in and out while holding the camera too! Stunning image quality - love shooting an APO wide open!

Did you inspect for dust when you first bought it? It's not uncommon for brand new lenses to have some dust particles inside.
Sooooo after much time off the webs, I'm back and happy to say that Stephen did replace the lens. Great of him to do, before that I did as you all suggested. I cleaned the sensor and it improved but there were what looks like flecks of paint or something within the lens elements. Not sure what it could have been but after both the sensor cleaning and the lens replacement I have amazing fotos to share.
Thank you all for the help. Apologies for the late reply.
(at some point I'll add fotos to the thread to keep it alive)

Here are a few with the Nikon Z7. In addition to the Sony cameras the mirrorless Nikon work very well with the Voigtlander 65 f/2 APO as well.
Impressive clarity. This lens is flawless.
I think the new CV 50/2 APO wins slightly on rendering but on the other hand, it's not as color corrected.
