Congratulations Hatch on your new lens, terrific images.
I got this lens when it first came out, have been very happy with it.
I am still on the fence about getting the FE 200-600.
It might be a bit heavy for me using it freehand.
The FE 400 GM I use a lot, but almost always on a tripod.
I am sure you will enjoy your new lens.
Cheers, K-H.
Many thanks It's very sharp through the range, easy to shoot. I will say the zoom ring is stiff even when it's set to smooth. I don't think this is a bad thing, just a little surprising. Another perk is how close the lens can focus... I'm going to enjoy shooting with it.

We were treated to an aerial display of Bald Eagle flight as a pair of mature adults attempted to dive-bomb a male Mallard Duck on the main pond of our subdivision during the morning of Monday, November 22. They weren't successful this time, but I'm sure they'll get their fill later today at a more populous duck pond. Happy Thanksgiving!

Eurasian green woodpecker is considered a rarity over here. I had to crop a little but, all things considered, I was really lucky with the picture. Light was good despite late November, and and the bird is really shy.
