Well, I'm almost too ashamed of my bird collection in 2018 to even post, but since this is a Nature & Wildlife forum, I'll post one decent quality bird image, and an invertebrate.
This first one I like because the light was decent and it allowed a lot of detail to show up well.
I really liked seeing this little critter on the beach, as it was something I'd not seen previously, the colour is striking, and so are the fine details. Velella velella is just plain cool.
Lovely work by all! A real treat to scroll through the posts.

I guess I'll add to the forum. Maybe not my best, but a couple of my favorites from the year.

Thanks for starting the thread, Ted. I'm enjoying all the posts, but lamenting the fact that my photography took the way-back seat for most of the year. I'll peruse through the slim pickins and hope for a more productive 2019.
In the meantime, thanks to all the posters for sharing your wonderful pictures and experiences!

Thanks Ted for getting the ball rolling...your little blue is outrageously good!! This has been a good year and as a result I have a big problem deciding what to post. I'll give the second image some thought and come back later.

I pick this as my second shot. This is one of my favs and wants on our trip to Costa Rica. I wanted a clean background without the sky. They tend to fly high or very close to the trees. I was happy to get this shot. Seeing the Macaws in the wild is something special. This was handheld with the 600mm and 1.4x on our last morning on the Osa Peninsula.

As always, a really nice collection of photos. Two of my favorites from the past year. A shot from a nice summer with a cooperative owl and another of something I've always wanted to see for myself.

Going through my images, my favorite was not easy to choose. I got to o to a few interesting places this year and that made the choice even more difficult. There are some really amazing images in this thread.
