Shot a cool time-lapse sequence about two hours ago with my Z6 and 50mm 1.8S. I had it set at 1/10th, electronic shutter at ISO 20,000, managed about 212 frames of the antics. Two bucks were going at it in my yard in the moonlight through as seen though my window.
Here are a few frames from the sequence, looks amazing as a 4K movie:
I used to hold in high esteem the opinions of Chris at DPreview but this lens is IMHO candidate for lens of the year.
I cannot understand why on earth one would even think it could be candidate for worst lens.
I have not seen particular issues with bokeh that I find overall very pleasing. Yes the look of some highlights show some texture that results from the use of aspherical elements but this IMHO less pronounced than on the Otus...

It's hard to say what they were thinking, or what kind of forces could be be behind their statement.
To my eyes, that lens is got excellent background rendering!

Likewise I have respect for those at DPR but choosing the worst cameras/lenses reeks of stupidity and unnecessary negativity . The products chosen are very debatable and diametrically opposite of many other reviewers!
I have tested the 50/1.8s on the Z7 and I find it an amazing lens as the lens has personality and character ! I will pick up the Z6 and 50/1.8s when timing suits.
Every modern lens now demands uber sharpness and it is finding the balance of smooth bokeh particularly that most lenses now have aspherical elements. Learn your lenses and use them appropriately. If ultra smooth bokeh is more important look at pre aspherical lenses.
It would be interesting to see how DPR reviews the Leica M 50 Lux Asph as this lens is beautifully sharp but the bokeh can also be busy sometimes too.
I just picked up the 35 and 50. Can only view images on the camera at the moment as I'm away. Wide open both are nice and sharp with perfect focus on the Z7. Looking forward to my first newborn with the combo ( the reason I added both S lenses).
