I do mostly landscapes and dabble in wildlife photography, so portraits are relatively uncharted territory for me. I find myself relying on beautiful light and not really doing a great job relaxing my subjects or posing them in a variety of dynamic ways. Does anyone have suggestions or guides on posing? Comments and criticism mostly assuredly welcome.
EDIT: Had some trouble embedding images - they're back up now!
On Youtube I really like Lindsay Adler. Here is a link that will lead you to some more of her stuff. In my mind, communication is the key, let the senior know what you are doing, why you are looking at your camera, explain what you are trying to capture. Sounds corny, but I say "think some happy thoughts" and I get a smile 9 out of 10 times. Just find your sense of what you are. It is obvious that you know great light and processing.
Good luck!

Great model, great light, great location.
#2: Full frontal doesnt work for too many people, but your model is very symmetrical so its no problem.
Thanks, Sauseschritt. I did try to keep her posing as asymmetrical as possible, but this one I actually liked the look of.

Thank you, Cliphe. I appreciate the video you sent! I'll do some more digging into into her stuff. I am aware of all the usual rules, do's, don't's, etc., but I still feel like it's hard to apply in the moment. I guess practice, practice, practice...!

Great imagery. Love it. Were these completely naturally lit or did you use any off camera flash or reflectors etc.,? Just wondering.
thanks

Thanks, SanjayG. This is 100% natural with no reflectors of any kind. I underexposed a bit so as to preserve the extreme highlights, then boosted shadows a bit in post.

Wow! It was a combination of your skills and some amazing light with a great model. Thank you for your response.

You're too kind, Sanjay. Thank you for the praise! I'm just a landscape guy chasing beautiful light who happened to stumble into some senior portraits.
