Probably not the sharpest Micro-Nikkor lens ever made, but the 105/2.8G is sharp enough even for demanding high-res sensors, with a stunning oof rendition.

Taken with Tamron SP 400mm F/4.0 LD-IF Model 65B lens made from 1988 to 1995. Some of the shots are with the Tamron SP 1.4X Tele-Converter Model 140F on the D500. Pretty good for an old lens. It was well thought of back then. I forgot to enter the lens in the camera.

D780 & MF lenses ... how could I get pictures in focus without the EVF and Expeed 7 of modern Z bodies?
As they say in life, timing is everything. If the D780 had come out a year earlier it'd be regarded as a legendary camera. Its by no means perfect but as a pure image producer its the best DSLR that Nikon ever made. And I say that as a D850 owner.
Unfortunately coming out during COVID and just before Nikon jumped to Mirrorless the D780 has been relegated to a hidden/forgotten gem. Those who have them know.

This lens is a big reason I keep my D850

Incredible pictures on this page. Long live the DSLR. I will possibly hang on to the D2X for as long as it takes pictures. Nothing I have does red the same.

So great to see so many dslr users still active 🙂
I just traded a Z50 with 2 lens kit + a Z5 with 24-70 f/4 for a D500 with 16-80 f/2.8-4. So yeah, I'm all in with dSLRs in spite of mirrorless. I just prefer the feel, sound, OVF, and ergonomics of Nikon's D850 and D500. I'll probably use these 2 cameras until I'm too old to lift them up to my eye.
