We've had an unusual visitor to the bird feeders this week - a Townsend's Warbler. We usually see them for a few weeks during the summer when they're migrating through, but this is the first time I've ever seen one here this time of year.

just got this lens a couple months back and learning how to use it. recently attached it to the z6iii after using it with the z9 initially. much easier for me to handhold and though i prefer using the z9 with its greater capabilities the z6iii is a fine camera. Been almost entirely using 3D focus mode and it has been very good.

Such "photos" posted on rumor sites are sometimes/often fan-made and digitally edited from photos of other, actually existing lenses; in this case those images look like it's an existing Nikon lens with some text written on to make it seem like a new, unannounced lens. I bet if a Nikon 100-300/2.8 or 120-300/2.8 is actually released by Nikon, it will not look like those "photos".

Sorry if my reply came across as petty, but as another poster pointed out, that "photo" on Nikon Rumors turned out to be fake.

Hi everyone, I've had a Z8 with the 800mm f/6.3 lens for four weeks now.

I use it to photograph birds. While I was out today, it seemed to me that the image stabilization was barely working, if at all.

At home, I tried everything again: resetting the camera, removing and reattaching the lens... When I look through the viewfinder and focus a little further, the image doesn't become any smoother, or hardly at all, with VR enabled. The corresponding hand icon indicates this.

When I switch to "Normal" stabilization mode and take a picture, it used to be that the image would jerk slightly, for example, when photographing birds in flight. It doesn't do that anymore either.

Can you help me?

Some new images. I'm still surprised how slow I can handheld this lens. The rabbit is at 1/50 sec. The squirrel (I can see my car in his eyes) is at 1/40 sec

I'm also finding that in Z8 switching to Animal mode is not necessary for smal Animals. Bird autofocus works for squirrels and rabbits

I'm wondering if Nikon will give Z8 what's in Z9 5.3. It looks like bird AF is way better in Z9 now. Z8 struggles with long necked birds like herons, egrets and cranes.
