This is the very definition of a "grab" shot. I've been photographing my grandsons since day one starting 15 years ago and my requests are commonly greeted with moans and groans But my daughter and her family were home this summer so I had to get an updated family photo. I pleaded with them to gather in the back corner of the pool yard and grabbed this one frame that included the baby engaging with the camera. That's my daughter's family on the left and my son's on the right. I'm not a religious person but feel blessed to have been given this precious gift.

And I'm fully aware of the "glaring" issues, no pun intended, with this photograph. But it is what it is and I had no time to fuss.

I do not find anything really amiss with this image.
Everyone looks happy and a beautiful family portrait!

Thank you Dan. I would have loved to have been able to control the hot spots but it was literally a "please sit down" moment
I'll gladly take the blown highlights along with the memory
A very natural and heart warming scene. I wouldn't change anything about it. The highlights add character. Certainly a thousand times better than flat light. I've edited out imperfections only to realize they made the scene more dynamic even if they weren't 'perfect' (before editing). It also gives a nostalgic vibe; something a perfect photo has more trouble pulling off.

We have very little control over Mother Nature! I see nothing here that detracts from the pleasure of a family portrait over generations!

When the baby is the grandparent ... the baby's grandkids will see this, as the tale of who took the picture is told.

It's a very good shot.
Sometimes hotspots and glare detract - not in this one.
As a shooter that used to do sports, cheer and other people events you have my admiration that you got so many people of varying attention spans to have relaxed and natural expressions.
Well done indeed - oh, and good lookin family you have there!

Dead on.
I think most all photographers that are serious about their craft, suffer "perfectionitis" to varying degrees.
That is a wisdom nugget we should all take to heart.
