Terrific photos, wonderful timing and execution Gregg. Who doesn’t love a lenticular cloud in such a setting? I am in Lone Pine visiting the Alabama Hills and they closed most of Movie Rd due to the extreme erosion damage with more weather due tonight into tomorrow. The road closure is near Shark Fin, but as of today you can still park there and hike in. DVNP previously got rain that seemed to solidify the many footprints at Mesquite Dunes and late last week it was tough to find bigger compositions as footprints were everywhere even quite far from the parking lot to the east, maybe the sunny weather forecast for later this week with some wind will improve the conditions. Surprisingly we saw no standing water at Badwater Basin as seen in the past winters and the salt polygons were flattened by previous rains.

That's a great info Pixelho. I was thinking of going to DVNP this coming weekend but I may postpone the trip until 27th or 28th.
I see some winds in DV but not that strong, not even 25mph. But this is just a prediction and it'll improve closer to the date...
Thanks for the info pixelho. It looks like there is a wind advisory for the area today but only up to about 25 mph. Maybe at least that'll dry some of the sand out and allow the next winds to wipe out the footprints.

Gregg and Brett, you’re welcome. As of today Movie Rd was still closed, but we did see some ignore the signs and a few 4x4’s head into the hills on the back trails. Most folks seemed to play by the rules, but I don’t know if the 4x4 trails are restricted. Our rental was not up to the task as there is still standing water in places and plenty of saturated sand. The east facing slopes got more snow last night and were heavily blanketed, nice to see, as were the Inyo Mountains. Driving up Whitney Portal Rd as far as we could provided views of the snow covered trees, same with Onion Valley. Very pretty and we definitely took our share of photos.
