They’re back and they are hard at nest building and all their other activities. I had a good morning last week when visiting their nest both the male and female were active in bringing back materials for the nest, but the high point of the morning was when the male brought a Flounder back to the nest.
Typically, the male will eat the head off the fish before bringing it back to the nest for the female and or babies, but not this time. The male brought back the entire Flounder, still alive, and gave it to the female. She took the fish and flew off to a perch and consumed it before coming back to the nest. If you have the patience to wait long enough, you usually witness some unique behavior at the nest.
