This morning I had a meeting at Brookgreen Gardens (it's a botanical & sculpture gardens) in Murrells Inlet, SC. I got there early and took a 45 min walk around with the Z8 and Z 100-400 S lens. Here are some images!
Not as many Monarchs as in years past. But they will recover.
This year I do not see them every day in my wildflower garden. Two were here yesterday and one today. When one or two visit my flowers they stay for just awhile and leave for flowers (nectar) in surrounding areas. I never know when they'll show, so I regularly check the flowers through a window.
This is the first year I've seen Hummingbird Moths in my wildflower garden. As with the various bee species, these moths do not fly off if I slowly move to within a few feet of them. Monarch butterflies will temporarily leave the area if I get any closer than 15 feet or so.
