For an all-in-one zoom, the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 is a good option. While an all-in-one may not ever be considered "small and light", this one isn't bad.
I have the Tamron 28-200mm. If primarily using its 28-50 zoom range, there are definitely better "small and light" lenses that beat it.
Even when considering Tamron's 50-200mm zoom range in APS-C mode, the Sony 55-210mm lens (345g) beats the Tamron in weight (575g).
However, the comparison gets interesting when using the Tamron primarily between 50-200mm in Full Frame, I don't recall there is any other zoom lens in the Sony or third party line-up that covers this range and is lighter than the Tamron. Correct me if I am wrong.
Quick and dirty phone pick of the 28-200 on an A6700, expecting the A7Cii to be very similar, and the 18-135 on an A6400. I haven't used the 28-200 on the A6400 much. It felt a bit too hefty. I carried it around a bit and the A6700 as shown and it felt better. I haven't taken it out to shoot though. Note both are on Smallrigs, the L bracket and the bottom plate.

Nice APS-C setup. I actually don't need to reach 300mm in APS-C mode so 18-135mm is perfect, but I'm afraid it's a step down in IQ from the Tamron 28-200, which is so good for what it is.
Have you noticed an IQ difference between 18-135 and Tamron 28-200?
IQ difference? Maybe. Probably a bit. I haven't done controlled testing. I think most reviews and controlled tests, etc. lean towards the 28-200 being "better."
context - I noticed a fair amount of improvement going from the NEX6 and 16-50 to the A6400 and 18-135. I noticed less difference adding the A7Riv and 28-200. So, 2.5 years or so without using the A6400 or 18-135 much. I still notice the larger. heavier side of the kit. I've also become more comfortable/adventurous with post processing and the various programs have improved, too. Especially in noise reduction and sharpening. So, when I got the A6700 recently, the 18-135 went right on. Yes, it's still lighter! But I like the looks of what I'm getting from the A6700 as well.
I'm not a pro. Not an event, portrait or wedding shooter. Not a lot of prints. sharing is online, often Facebook these days, so things are processed, down sampled, and FB works whatever magic they do and family and friends either don't see IQ problems or are polite enough to not say anything.
I do think, if one is looking to a smaller, lighter, aps-c kit and has similar subject interests as I do, I'd have no trouble suggesting the 18-135 on Sony aps-c.
- 33mp sensor from the A7iv
- BIONZ XR chipset with new menus, touch menus etc
- AF from the A7iv + 2 years development + AI chip from A7RV + faster readout than A7RV = outstanding AF, probably the best to date
- Single SD slot - No CF Express option to keep size and costs down
- Same EVF as 6700 - slightly better 0.7x magnification than old A7C
- Same LCD as A7C - possibly the higher res screen from A7iv?
- Half shutter with EFCS
- Same IBIS as A7C, with slight improvement from algorithm updates
- New features eg. Focus breathing compensation, focus stacking
I don't think the A7CR exists, or at least not for the 29th.

SAR has released a pic of the new 16-35 with the A7CR which is looking much more real now, I hope my prediction is wrong - would be a dream camera for many!
Looks very real. Specs incoming. I’m not sure the 16-35 GMII is the right lens to hang off it, but it appears it will be a choice. I’d be surprised if it weren’t optically spectacular.
it also looks exactly the same size as the a7c/a6700/zv-e1 so there'll be no upgrade to the evf, but it'll be very lame if they use the new LCD mechanism only on the a7Cr and not on the mark II, if they are the same size anyway

I’m hoping that the new A7C II an R at least have the same EVF as the A6700 which I can tell you from personal experiences is better than the A7C. I currently own both. Have to admit they should have the improved EVF otherwise it’s hard for me to justify upgrading my A7C or even keep it at all.

with the sensor, shutter and ibis module covering double of the area of the a6700 I think it's tough to get the same magnification on the EVF module

still no news?
the official presentation video have been posted, but I would advise to just look for some creator you watch because they will be posting their own review at the same instant
