I spent two weeks covering three different regions in Kenya. I had an incredible group of photographers making photos with us and I'm in the process of planning the return trip. We truly saw it all - tusker elephants, huge rhino, all of the big cats and some wild predator action.
I shot over 22,000 photos and I've made my first pass through everything - so many keepers! All in all, I shot nearly everything with the Sony Alpha 1 but some of the time I was using a modified A7iii for infrared to create some unique B&W images.
I was able to take the early copy of the Sony 300mm F2.8 GM with me and shoot it alongside the 400GM. It's an incredibly nimble lens and it packs a punch. I really can't recommend it enough and I will be adding it to my bag with the 400.
Who wants to go next time? I've started a waitlist for those that may be interested in joining in 2024 or 2025. https://www.dirksenphoto.com/kenya

Amazing shots! That lion portrait is so captivating. I would love to get there one day. Thanks for sharing!
Tim there is no better time than now. I waited for quite a while before my first trip, and then almost 4 years before my second trip and there really is no equal in terms of wildlife photography. There is a reason so many people have that as their number one place to go for wildlife photography. The biodiversity is incredible!
Don't think I can add much to what's already been said. These are outstanding on very level.
No.s 1, 11, & 12 are all just outstanding compositions, and the male Lion is wonderful.
Great work!

Appreciate it! That lion definitely gave us a few opportunities to make nice portraits - even in the rain.

In a word - "magnificent".
Lovin' on the oxpeckers!
The oxpeckers were a lot of fun and I constantly was looking for opportunities to try to make a composition with them. Birds out in that open savannah are not as easy to fill a frame with!
