p.1 #1 · San Marcos de Colon, Honduras: Annual town celebration
Congratulations to cth55 for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 2 votes - View Previous Winners
These images are from the week-long town celebration, held every July. San Marcos de Colon is a cattle ranching and agriculture area and people love their horses. Parades are always a big part of the celebration and participants travel from different parts of southern Honduras and northern Nicaragua to join in, bringing their horses along to show off.

Thanks for posting these. I live off the north coast of Honduras. There is quite a difference in the physical characteristics of the men and women of southern Honduras compared to northern. I guess there is a heavy influence from Salvador and/or Nicaragua. In San Marcos de Colon. I see your country as Honduras but your state as CA. Do you live down here, or were you visiting?

I've lived here since 1995 ..... 29 years now. The north coast and the islands are culturally a bit more diverse. I wouldn't say EL Salvador and Nicaragua have influenced Honduras. The three countries have the same roots and are much more similar than different.

#3 is sensational! Extremely sharp, crisp and vibrant! A beautiful Latina and you did her proud! All are wonderful!

The 5DSr and the EF70-200f/2.8 are my most "go to" combo!

Excellent series. My favorite is the girl with the black fedora on horseback looking to her right.
My wife is a professor in a school of nursing and took her graduate students on a medical mission trip to Honduras yearly. Unfortunately, because of Covid and then the unsettled situation in Honduras, they had to stop going. She loved taking her students. They traveled deep into the country to serve villages only accessible by 4 wheel drive vehicles.

A beautiful and very well done set of images, once again proving you don't need to have the latest and greatest but only need to be a great photographer with and equally good eye and technique.

I find the colors to be gloriously captured and perfectly rendered. I can hear the background sounds being filled with laughter and music making me feel as if I was right there in the midst of it all. Thanks for the adventure.
