Thank you chiron. All these pictures are hand-held.IBIS is OK with GFX 100s,though not as efficacious as in the Sony system.

Still quite impressive for a long lens hand-held. The IBIS on the recent II models is reported as still better.

MSG?

Beautiful images Peire and I like seeing lenses not typically associated with macro work doing just that and showing their versatility.

Thank you Jon.I add 18mm extension tube to GF 80/1.7.

MSG is an abbreviation of "Mit schwäbischer Grüß"

Nice! That 18mm extension tube is a very useful accessory. I've used one on all of my GF lenses, with the exception of the GF 23mm, and while it doesn't make a huge difference, it makes enough of a difference to make nearly every lens a reasonably good macro lens.

And I'm sorry, and can only blame my narrow set of linguistic skills, but what does "Mit schwäbischer Grüß" translate to in english? Unfortunately, Google translate was of no help.

This unfortunate male Northern Cardinal met its end when it flew into a window of our house recently. Here is a memorializing picture of its beautiful tail feathers. I used LR noise reduction and a very light touch of the PS oil paint filter to further smooth out some of the grit in this heavily cropped image.

Hi Jon,

If you try to translate “ mit schwäbischen Gruß” you find “ with Swabian greeting”.
My guess for MSG would have been “mit schlesischen Gruß”, meaning “with Silesian greeting”, as Piotr lives in Silesia and not in Swabia.

Silesia being a part of Poland now, whereas Swabia is the area around Stuttgart in (western) Germany.

K-H.

Thanks very much K-H for both the literal and implied translation.

Thank you.18mm is very useful with many lenses to create special closeups.

As for "Mit schwäbischer Grüß" it means "with swabian greeting" as Karl-Heinz explained.Yet I ment swabian not silesian to comemorate Götz von Berlichingen and what he said when asked to surrender his besiged castle.

Took all these with the GF 500mm and my longest extension tube, the 45mm (Viltrox). I don't think I was at MFD, but this tube is really the one that makes a difference with this lens.

^^^ Nice job, especially on the Astilbe. Choosing focus point and dof for those is always a challenge for me.

Thank you! That one was the 55mm which focuses fairly close for a GF lens, so didn’t require an extension tube and was therefore easier to shoot.

Graffiti Bridge, Yolo County, CA.

First is with the 20-35.

The second is with an adapted Nikkor 58/1.4 -- this is a full-frame and "as shot" capture with that lens over the full GFX 100s sensor. Not only does it cover, the corners are fully usable; and it AF's faster than the 55/1.7(!)
