Greetings and Happy New Year! I wanted to share some pygmy owl photos from Yellowstone. Normally I leave Yellowstone area by Thanksgiving, this year I stayed a little longer and managed to get some photos of the pygmy owls that showed up there. In my estimation there were 5-12 owls hanging out and hunting along the road. They sure did put on a great display!
Got a chuckle out of a couple of these, cute little buggers. The first shot is neat, he just tucks his wings and goes for velocity like a missile. It makes me think he has some target fixation occupying his little head for some snack scurrying around on the ground, planning a last second flare out and grab with his talons. Fun stuff.

One solid set - all shined to me.....details, composition, lighting, and poses with supporting backgrounds all on point! The one with the eye peeking from the branches is my fave.
Thanks for the comments - so many hours go into these shots - I appreciate it!
