The Leica green is much less drab and more saturated than the marketing renders. I think I like the marketing shade more!
It’s actually more drab green in person than in photos. It’s also completely different in direct bright sun (looks like Leica’s photos) and in shade or indoors (darker with some brown in it).
It’s also hard to get a single read on the Safari color because of the texture and reflectivity of Leica’s matte paint. In direct sunlight, if you look at the paint at macro magnification, it reflects a purple sparkle back at the viewer almost like purple fringing but evenly distributed across the surface. It did this with the matte black M11M I had as well. I don’t know what the optical property/name for this effect is.
Edit: I looked it up, and it may be “birefringence”.

I have asked leica about the spare safari battery for 2 weeks but got no replay yet. The battery life is quite poor,it last about 300 shoots or less. Mine also have some sensor defects and also waiting for a response from leica.
I saw your photos on LuF. That camera should be replaced.
300 shots is woeful. I get more than double that on my M11’s. Are you using live view all the time? That’s about the only way to get 300 shots from an M.

Regarding the M11-P Safari, it looks like the Cognac strap isn't included anymore. Does Leica sell that strap separately for this camera? I think the code is 18559, but it seems to be discontinued.
Did anyone find a third party strap alternative in Cognac color that looks good on the Safari?
The included strap is black. You can buy the cognac strap if you want. Personally I’m over huge bulky straps like leather or rope. They’re bigger than the camera. Just a boring PD Leash strap in cognac colour is fine. Matches the camera nicely.

Thanks, Erich.
Do you happen to know if the shoulder pad can be removed from this strap? I really like the color and the way it attaches to the camera, but I'd prefer something a bit more streamlined.

That aporia looks cute on it.
Is it hard to focus?
Yes, it's very easy to focus, but it's usually not aligned with the rangefinder out of the box. Thankfully, it's not hard to get it perfectly dialed in.
This one is the M10-P Safari. I waited until the M11-P Safari came out, hoping someone would sell their M10-P version at a reasonable price. It finally worked out.

Sorry to hear that. So it wasn't just a smudge after all. Hopefully Leica can get it replaced quickly...the M11-P Safari seems to be in stock everywhere I checked this morning.

The Safari is one sweet looking M 11 especially with the silver lens.
I agree. I had only seen the M Safari in photos before, never in person and I have to say it is a beautiful camera. The olive green is darker than I expected and paired with a silver lens it really looks great to my eyes. I am a big fan of glossy black paint finishes but the Safari has definitely become my second favorite. I went with the M10-P Safari version, which I used to own in black chrome. I had forgotten how much I enjoy the color output from this camera.

Also agree. My favorite after black paint for looks new. I don't like weathered looking stuff, so Black Paint is out for me. I would never buy a camera based on color or finish however.
