Looking at the images again, and comparing them with other third party Safari colors, I think it makes more sense for these to be matte rather than glossy. That's where the Voigtlander matches so well. The hue very close, and the matte finish lines up perfectly with the body.

It matches better than the photo someone else just posted. Lighting has to be just right or a mobile phone will exaggerate the color differences.

I was able to find one at a reasonable price, but now I'll have to decide which one to keep, the Safari or the Stainless Steel version. Mine is 039/200.

Nice! I would keep them both AND add the collapsible version for the 0.5m MFD for adapting to your Zf.

That is one nice-looking Zf.

I agree, the silver Zf looks fantastic with green leatherette. The Light Lens Lab 35mm f/2 Eight Element "Safari" version pairs especially well with it. Here are some images showing the lens with a few different adapters:

Here is the Light Lens Lab 35mm f/2 Eight Element "Safari" version on the Leica M Safari. Not a perfect match but close enough.

yes close enough as I wrote before, after I got the 50/3.5 CS because of Fred's review its green is a little closer, I am not sure I'd buy more green lenses such as Leica unless the deal could not beat then irrational color thing would take over, as looking at the 50/3.5 I am thinking silver/chrome looks better on the M11P safari especially if the lens is not beat up and nice and shiny. And the green LLL 35/2 I use on my M11 EV1, and my chrome film but does not blend in as well as a chrome lens on these cameras if I was making a fashion statement. I dont have a green Bessa R2 but I wonder how well these work with the green Bessa, the Leica safari film being a bit over the top as military models, especially that German M4, and even the Kanto reproductions are a bit pricey.

Beautiful Safaris in here. Apologies if this was already asked but are the greens the same between the M10-P Safari and the M11-P Safari? I am getting an itch for a safari body…

This is a good question, and honestly I don't know. There are a lot of opinions online, but very few proper side by side comparisons under the same lighting conditions. As you've probably noticed from images on this thread, the green shade changes quite dramatically depending on the lighting.

Just picked up a hybrid film companion for the Safari M11P, a Bessa R2. There are original green M films, produced for the militaries of Germany and Israel, or as prototypes, some in the few 100,000s $. These come up for auctions and they are extremely expensive and rare. There are repaints of M3 M4 M4-2 as olive, nicely done by Kanto and others and are at least 2X the cost of equivalent film M. Going green isn't easy, however Voigtlander R2s in great shape are not that expensive, it is a near perfect match of the 3.5 50 mm apolanthar in green. Color coordination without breaking the bank. Being of that vintage, it is not a "real" photo outing unless I have a film camera even if I only shoot a few percent of the photos with it.

The green hue on the Bessa is very similar to that of the Cosina APO, which is not surprising. Congrats! How do you like the Bessa?

I just got via Tarmakin auction, so no results I need to take it out, yet, impressions so far, I like the ergonomics, it is noisy compared to a M, all of therm including M4-2s, The view finder is bright, the frame lines easy to see, the patch not as good as M3, more on M4-2 line, not as good as a MP. I like the loading it is more secure than M quick load, kind of a permanent spool like the M3 upgrade but better. It is lighter, obviously not as robust, Magnesium, rather than brass. I like the more obvious + and - light for TTL better than the MP. I am going to take it on the road in Alaska and fire some film through it and hope that the speeds are accurate. It does look like it belongs with M11P Safari that was my intent. Good copies of a Bessa are cheap compared to even a M4-2 never mind M3/M4 so as some of the YouTubes have outlined it is a good alternative to use M glass. Not sure what I might use as a single lens carry but I am tempted to put the Funleader conversion of a 45/2 G Contax, it looks fine there and might be a good single lens carry. There is of course no frame line for 45, but it is just a little wider than 50 and the 50 3.5 olive looks so sweet on it- it is day all the time in Alaska so maybe I can get by with 3.5 and dress it for photo success. My viewfinder impression is that it is 50 centric but does 35, 75, 90. I'll take it on the road, shoot some, send to the darkroom and two weeks later I guess I'll know if the speeds are good. Just like the good old days !
