People are the highlights to any trip. That is the people traveling with you or the stranger you meet on that journey.
Juan Carlos gave us the best service during our trip to Oaxaca, MX.
We struck a friendship that week and at the end of journey I asked for a portrait, he graciously agreed.
Thank you Juan Carlos, we appreciate you!
P.S. Traveling back with the M11-D is such a treat, I look forward to all the images I captured durung the trip. Anticipation overload. :-)
A fine composition Andy! A proud looking man! It is always nice to connect with the people of the area. Makes for a more pleasurable experience!
Great images like this help also!!

Fantastic portrait. Perhaps reading too much into it, but there is a projection of quiet serenity.
As an aside, we were in Oaxaca just last month, and had a most wonderful time everywhere we went, from the city, to the coast, and the mountains in between. My wife and I liked it enough, that we would like to spend some extended time there in retirement. Despite having less and working harder, the general vibe was an order of magnitude lower anxiety. With the great food, and frequent celebrations, Oaxaca city reminded me a bit of New Orleans, but with more joy and less excessive intoxication. It is also a bit mind blowing to see the very much alive, cultural melting pot of indigenous cultures. We had a Zapotec colectivo driver, who spent several years in the US and spoke perfect english, tell us there were over many distinct cultures still alive in Oaxaca and they all speak different languages.

Thank you both. It was our first time into Oaxaca city, but were surprised by Hurricane Erick which cut the beach part out of our trip very short, even before the beach trip started.. The city does have such a relaxing vibe and cant talk enough about the local food. The people were fantastic, would be a great place for an extended stay for sure.

This shot feels cinematic like a still from a documentary film. The textures in the environment contrast really nicely with the clean lines of his uniform. The expression you caught is grounded and reflective. Love the decision to shoot wide open for that creamy background falloff. If I had one suggestion, it might be to just open up the shadows a touch around his left arm/wrist, there’s some beautiful texture there that could come through more. But honestly, the vibe and composition are spot-on. Great work!
