I ordered a silver and black kit. Received the silver, checked it out and realized it wasn't for me. Returned it. Will return the black kit when it arrives. Re-purchased the X-E4. I prefer the minimalist nature of the XE4. The addition of the sim dial and front toggle makes it very cramped. The addition of IBIS and a second command dial are welcomed! I don't like the front grip, it doesn't grip well. I prefer the stick on grip I put on my XE4. Maybe if the EVF was much better I would have kept it. I was trying to replace my X-E4 and another camera with the XE5 but it just wasn't going to work. For me, the X-E4 with a pancake or small Voigtlander is a great little combo to throw in your bag and not care too much about it. In a weird way, they made the X-E5 too premium for me.

Very interesting, Nick, thanks for sharing your candid views.
I bought the X-E5 to replace my X-E4, which I liked. The 40 MP and IBIS are welcomed. I never had a problem with the EVF or LCD on the X-E4 so I don't with the X-E5 either. I was happy setting up JPEG recipes in the Q menu so the addition of the new Sim dial on the top doesn't interest me but maybe I'll fiddle with it and like it eventually. It doesn't get in my way. If I don't like a control dial or button I can ignore it. (People complained that the E4 was dumbed down and didn't have enough; now people complain that it has too many). The X-E5 feels more 'solid,' maybe because it's a tad heavier, or maybe it's just my imagination. The front grip on the X-E5 is better than no front grip on the X-E4 but since I do a lot of one-handed shooting with a wrist strap I put an accessory front grip and thumb grip on the X-E5 just as I did on the X-E4. No camera suits everyone and the X-E5 suits my use case even better than the X-E4 so I'm glad I bought it. I think I'll get my money's worth out of it.

And not only because of GAS?
I would like to, but i dont find a big reason
to spend 600€.
(sell the 4 and add 600€ for the 5)
...
A good way to move towards an answer to that question is to ask yourself in what ways is the XE4 failing for you on your own photography? Are you running into actual issues where it holds you back? And then, look at the XE5 or other alternatives and ask whether or not they address those particular issues? And, finally, is fixing (or at least improving) those things worth the cost?
If you want feedback on that process, perhaps you could answer some of those questions here?
The XE4 is really a fine little camera. (My wife uses one, so I’ve seen it in action and used it a bit.)
In general, it is rarely the case that upgrading from one version of a camera to the next version is a big enough change to make it worthwhile. It mappers, but that’s the exception.

That's interesting. How would you characterize the differences and why you like them?
The XE4 is smaller and thinner without handgrip, even though I have Leica M which has no hand grip as well but since the weight of XE4 with lens is heavier. Holding the camera for a day is bummer.
XE5 is bit bigger and also has handgrip which is more comfortable to hold.
The shutter dial on XE5 is more convivence at least for me, now I could just use my thumb to change shutter speed.
It is also nice to have rear command dial as well.
The shutter sound on XE4 is loose, the XE5 is more solid.
With the IBIS, I could use the XE5 more for indoor and night shooting.
To keep both XE4 and XE5 just like keeping Ricoh II and Ricoh III, big upgrade / step from previous version but the old ver is still fun to shoot.
I got the 5 and like it. I also like that I can now crop more if needed. I was planning to sell my 4, but decided instead to sell my X100V. I like that the latter is weathersealed, but I’m just not a 35mm shooter.

I'm in the same boat, I love using X-E4 and X-E5 order is ready for pick up at BestBuy. Thinking if I should upgrade. GAS is kicking in hard....
There's no right or wrong answer here, but it is always worthwhile to consider your photographs and your photography and identify in your actual work the places where the current gear let you down... and how the newer gear will solve that identified problem.
