This was for Windows, so probably MacOS is different. But it's really sloppy. CPU and GPU are 2024 and 2025 technology respectively, so should be covered by their testing. I tend to keep the update downloads as they are small and I suggest people do that also.
I'll probably get PL 9 upgrade when there is sale on it. By then most bugs should be worked out on the new release.

Meanwhile, the lastest update for DXO 8 is 8.9. It is creating all kinds of ugly, light-colored, ragged blocks all over the screen at 100%.

I'm not seeing that behavior. Are you still on the 577.00 Nvidia driver? I'm using the latest Studio driver, version 581.57.
p.4 #3 · DXO PhotoLab 9 with new AI Mask Technology
I was using 577.00. I just tried again with nVidia updated to 581.57 and PL updated to 8.9.0 build 622. The issue is immediate when I turn on the Denoising & Demoizaking switch. PL 8.8 works with the 581.57. It must be something with the PL since it's quite repeatable (I've done this about 7 times). I have an Intel laptop with an Arrow Lake-H that I could try, but I have to update everything first as it is in disuse.

The blocky artifacts are more subtle but happening on a laptop also.
The desktop is Zen 5 & nVidia 50 series in Win 10 and the laptop is Arrow Lake-H (Arc 140T) in Win 11. Both are fully up to date as of October 24.
I'm not seeing any reason for such a visible defect in two totally different machines that are fine with 8.8. Perhaps it is related to the R5 II files, but such a common camera should not have a problem over year later. Results are the same with files taken in September 2024 and July 2025. Just to be clear, the processed output files are fine. It's the main display that is wack.

MacOS is very differt, so I would not expect that same issue.
The weird part as stated above is that the two computers tested are very different hardware and even OS version. The laptop is Arrow Lake-H (iNtel), has a standard OEM installation, and is less than 6 months old. The desktop is AMD Zen 5 and nVidia 50 series updated from an installation around 2023, so no nexus between the two. Since others are not seeing this issue, it may be very difficult to track down.
Meanwhile I never was able to map the DXO PL8 settings to DXO PL9. I may wait until next year for that.

I see no artifacts on Sony A1 or OM-1 II raw files.
It seems they have fixed the preview display bug in PL8. At least I was not crazy!

Photolab 9.2.1 is available and seems to have temporarily resolved the Tahoe 26.1 problem. Apple still needs to fix the Core problem but at least there is now a bypass. Interestingly, Subject detection now seems much quicker than before.

Will there be any sales on the DXO in November? I recall there were a few years ago, but maybe not with the new import taxes.

I usually buy during their annual Black Friday discount season at least for the last few years. Last year I think that kicked off around Nov 21st. Not sure if DXO does BF offers every year or not, but seems like they did for the last couple of years.

DxO's Black Friday sale just went live.
Only 20 bucks off for the Photolab 9 upgrade. I don't feel so bad now for having gotten it when it was released, rather than my usual waiting on the BF sale.
Copy paste from the news release for y'all:
DxO launched massive new deals if you use the checkout code RumorsBF!

Ew. Price went up again. The PL6 upgrade promotion for Black Friday in 2022 was $69. In 2023 and 2024 it was $89.
Adjusted for US inflation, that's $75 for 2022, $94 for 2023, and $92 for 2024.
I'm going to buy the upgrade because I'm on PL7. Doesn't mean I'll be all that happy about it.
