After a few weeks of vacation, it's time to return and begin the next season of the year. And what better way to start than in Brazil, photographing jaguars and enjoying observing this beautiful feline in its natural habitat.
Although the Pantanal is one of the best destinations for wildlife photography, we usually photograph not only jaguars but also birds and other mammals. On this occasion, I was leading a private, personalized, 9-day tour in search of jaguars.
During these 9 days, we had some great encounters and photographic opportunities. We saw jaguars in trees, walking on the beach, sleeping on the sand, swimming and crossing the river, and of course, trying to hunt.
Another great opportunity was being able to encounter three females with their cubs, one of which had three cubs, something truly amazing. And of course, cubs are cubs and cats are cats, so they gave us a real show, watching them playing and interacting with their mothers. One of our most beautiful experiences was watching Patricia and Malaka playing in the water in the afternoons. Play is very important for cats, as this is how they learn and practice hunting.
Unfortunately, we didn't achieve our goal of photographing Jaguars catching prey, as the hunt failed on several occasions. However, it was a fantastic trip with incredible opportunities.
During this trip, thanks to a friend, I had the opportunity to use the 400mm F2.8 lens, which was perfect for portraits. Together with the Sony A1ii, they gave me the incredible photographs I had always wanted to capture.
In the coming months, I will be sharing more phictures and experiences from upcoming trips.
As always, comments are welcome.

Javier
