I have been diagnosed with terminal Fuji G.A.S.! I suspect many of you have been as well. :-)

My X-T5/16-80, X-T50/16-50 and X-E5/15-45 shot with my X-E2/27.

So glad I switched to Fuji 7 yrs ago!

Well I just added Fuji back into my collection but I already have three bodies with the X-E5, X-T5, and X-H2. My two zooms are the XF 16-55/2.8 R LM WR II and XF 16-50/2.8-4.8 R LM WR. Then there are two f/2.8 pancakes at 23mm and 27mm. After that are my f/2 primes and my latest which is the Viltrox 56mm f/1.2 Pro.

Then there is my Sony & Canon full frame gear.

Fuji's recent price increases are as good as any simethicone I've used. Or rather, uh, so I've heard.

Secondhand.

After reading about it.

I'm not blaming Fuji or any company for the current price hikes.

I was just wondering if you feel that that the X-E5 is significantly smaller than the X-T5?
Is the build quality of the X-E5 better than the X-T5, because of the metal top and bottom plates?

How do you manage different batteries?
I am interested in the X-E5 as a companion compact camera to my GFX100RF, but since it uses the smaller battery, I am looking at the X-T5 instead.

I can't speak for others. But for me, the X-E5 is pretty much the perfect combination of the X-T5 and X100VI. The handling, controls, and number of customization options are just right for me.

I also have the OM-1 mkII. I can reprogram the power lever (which I don't have), change the menu button (which I do), and what seems like a hundred other options. I've NEVER found a user for most since the first Olympus body I owned with that 1/2 function switch over a decade ago. I also had the Leica D-Lux8 at the other end of the spectrum. I could have used maybe just one more button.

I think the X-E5 might have 1 or 2 options I haven't completely settled on, and I have to agree with many that I would really rather the profiles dial were an ISO dial. But that might be because I have found I really like them controlled by the front dial, where it's really easy to change them while looking through the viewfinder.

Is it built better? I'd say different is a better term. The X-E5 feels like a premium camera; the X-T5 feels like a solid, weather-sealed camera. Not sure how else to describe it.

As for size? I have a really small case I use for the X-E5 with the grip and 23mm. It fits just right, and I can even slide a battery in with it. The X-T5 I had JUST fit with the Viltrox 28mm, since it didn't need a lens cap, the Fuji 28mm with the lens cap would not fit. The X-T5 was a little too long, and the eye cup got in the way.

Batteries? I have three for the X-E5, so far, that has been enough. I've needed more than two on any given day so far. The X-T5 I had a spare that I rotated, but I can't recall ever needing it if I started with a full charge.

You can do a size comparison at this website. (I think the link goes to a different comparison, but out you can select XE5 and XT5 from the popup menus to see them.)

I have not held the XE5, but I have used every other XE from XE1-XE4. The XE bodies are smaller, mainly due to the smaller eyepiece and the lack of a real grip. The latter is either a plus or a minus, depending on your preferences.

I have the XT5 and have used it since shortly after it was introduced. It is a pretty small camera — a lot smaller than my full frame systems. I usually carry mine around in some non-camera bags that are quite small. Is the trade-off of a slightly larger yet still small size worth it for the extra card slot, the larger battery, more manual controls, and the more comfortable grip worth it? That's a pretty personal and subjective thing. (Basically, the answer to the question, "is the XE5 significantly smaller than the XT5?" is, "depends what you mean by 'significantly'!")

I'm curious as to why you have both an X-T50 and an X-E5? Aren't they pretty much the same camera but for the styling?

Yes, but the E rangefinder design appeals to me. However, see my post on the problem I had with an E5 and had to return it. In the meantime, love both the X-T5 and T50.

The Fuji X-E5 is smaller than the X-T5, but the X-T5 isn’t an overly large camera either. Both feel very good in hand. The X-T5 has a much better viewfinder than the X-E5 (and both have a far better viewfinder than my X-E3). The exposure compensation dial on the X-T5 is difficult to operate and feels cheap. Both are very nice cameras.

I actually prefer the X-T5's exposure compensation dial even if it is cheaper than in older models. I can operate it more easily with just my thumb than I could with the X-T3 version which had way more resistance.

My perfect Fuji would be XT5 controls, pro features (card slots and weather resistance), screen and slight bump of a grip with a left hand justified EVF and a flush back side that strap carried well.

Xpro4 come to papa.

I didn’t comment when I saw the original post about this, but my first reaction was, “huh?” I shoot almost always in aperture-priority mode, using the EC knob to manually offset the exposure as necessary to deal with things like very bright highlights or low contrast scenes. It works really well, and I never even think about it being problematic. I also operate it with the thumb, in my case doing so “blind” while looking through the viewfinder.

First I noticed of Fujifilm was all the buy/sell activity here at FredMiranda. I was shooting Nikon dslrs at the time. I thought, why not pickup an XT-2 to see what all the fuss was. Well it was a delightfully light and fun setup to use. Then came a new XT-3, then a used XT-5, now have a new XT-5 in black (never bonded to the silver XT-5). Oh and along the way for pocket photography, owned an XE-1 and an XE-2S. The amazing thing to me, is that when I sold off Fuji gear it kept its value or moreso (in case of the XE-2S). Now with just the XT-5, I am missing my Nikon DSLR's satisfyingly hand-filling feels. Am looking for a D780 to be alternative to the XT-5. The XF 100-400 I have has never had great BIF focus results.

Looking to pickup my first Fuji. Long time Canon and short time Sony user. This thread helps. Really like the size of the E5 and T50, but when I handled them at the store, the T5 felt best. I have a new Canon R5ii but looking for something a bit smaller and less $$ that I can tote around daily and keep the R5ii for kids sports, portraits, etc. The Nikon ZF is on my short list too but the T5 is the front runner.

Im keeping it old school to avoid cropped sensor GAS
Was always happy with the x-t20
With 18-55 and 55-200 zooms
With 50 touit Zeiss for macro

Then added a mint x-e1 with Fuji 60 macro to the kit
The SnR (signal to noise) ratio of the x-e1 is unbeatable given ample ambient light

Don’t feel the need to upgrade this simple and compact double body kit :-)
