p.1 #1 · Is there anyone using the LAOWA 180mm f/4.5?
I'm on the verge of buying the Laowa 180mm f/4.5 for macro work, and I'd love to hear from those of you who already have it. The long working distance seems perfect for not scaring off insects, and the 1.5x magnification is a huge draw.
What's really pushing me over the edge is the new firmware update that enables automated focus bracketing. As someone who spends a lot of time manually focus stacking, this sounds like a massive game-changer.
For those who've using this lens or installed the new firmware, how well does the lens work in real-world use? Is it as revolutionary as it sounds? Any insights you have would be greatly appreciated before I take the plunge!

I just purchased this lens and so far have only used it handheld. I'm really looking forward to getting to know this lens! Here are a few photos I've taken:

So, I just tried focus stacking with the Laowa and the Sony A7RV.
It sort of works.
It can only move focus a little bit, so the most shots I am able to get in a stack is 24, and that is with the step width set to 1 (the shortest step between focuses). If I use step width 4 (normal), then I get perhaps 11 shots.
I'm comparing this to the Sony 90mm macro where I can get a virtually unlimited number of shots as it won't stop until it reaches infinity.
