All I needed to do to open the RAW files in my X-E5 was to replace my 7 yr old iMac with a new one! Talking about the tail wagging the dog!
I bit the bullet and got a new iMac and reloaded the PhotoShop Elements 2025 and the latest RAW converter. Bingo! I'm now able to enjoy the full benefits of my X-E5, but at a steep price!

Heh. Seven “computer years” is a long time! I’m betting that you had one of the old iMacs that still used the Intel processor? They hung in there for a long time — I only replaced mine in the last year — but it ws time to upgrade!

Dan, not sure what I had, but the iMac was a 2018 model that was still serving me well. However, the OS could not be updated further than it was; therefore, I got the new iMac. Frankly I can't tell any difference except my new screen is 24" whereas my old one was 27". I'm glad that a young high tech neighbor came and set me up. Now I'm off and running!

I also had to do the same thing earlier this year. My 2007 Mac Mini was fine and was running CS and Lightroom 6 with no issues, until I bought a GFX and all of a sudden it couldn't open anything. I could've continued using it forever if I shot JPGs, but people said I have to try shooting RAW with GFX so I replaced it with 2024 Mac Mini that came with M4 Pro CPU. Going from 2007 core2duo to M4 Pro is, um interesting. I also found out Adobe now charges a monthly fee, which is nuts.

My old iMac was about that same vintage.I often do keep a computer until the OS updates no longer work, and that’s what I did with that Intel processor iMac. It was a great computer and still functional when I realized that updates weren’t coming and that I was starting to see some other odd glitches here and there with it.
I wish that Apple had produced 27” monitor iMacs with their M chips, but they went ot 24”.
In my case, there were some immediate speed increase with my M4 mini that were quite noticeable. In particular, the old machine had become very slow when finding files on my external drive that holds photographs. That largely was resolved with the new machine.

You can buy PS Elements and pay for a couple of years subscription.
Does PS Elements include the Fuji film sims in its RAW processor? I use ACDsee Photostudio pro and one of the downsides is it does not include film sims. As a result I can never quite get my RAWs to match SOOC Fuji JPEGs.

Try darktable. It is powerful and free. If you don't do too many things to your RAW files you will get the hang of it soon. I am in the process of playing around with it.
