p.1 #1 · Masai Mara - Rongai Pride and Mist? Why not
Day one in the Mara and the place hits me with a misty, cinematic morning straight out of Planet Earth. No warm-up, no easing in — just the famous Rongai Pride strolling out of the fog like they’re late for a photoshoot.
That first pride walk? Unreal. They kept walking toward the vehicle, and I kept shooting like my shutter count didn’t matter. So much for “tamed expectations” — the Mara basically looked at me and said, “Cute. Watch this.”
A few quick takeaways for anyone planning a trip:
1. Stay inside the park. Otherwise you’ll miss sunrise, sunset, and all the good drama.
2. Get the iMax-style land cruiser. The long one. And max 3 photogs. Unless you enjoy elbowing people mid-shot.
3. Your guide + driver matter more than your gear. You want the duo who anticipates behavior and doesn’t drive you into the lion’s lap.
4. Sunsets here are stupidly beautiful. But if you're outside the park, you’re kicked out at 6 PM — aka right when the sky says, “Let me show off.”
Anyway, that’s Set 1. More coming. Let me know what you think of the shots — the Mara came out swinging right from day one.

Lovely environmental contribution to these images. Powerful and soothing Low angle on these gives impact and makes them more connected, sweet set, YGMV
