Recently, I came across an ad for Lumenary film profiles for Lightroom. They look convincing, but I would like to hear from someone who has used them before I buy them.
According to the site, these profiles are "Trusted by 1000+ photographers". Surely someone must have tried them, but I haven't been able to find a single review, which makes me a little wary.
I had not heard about it — and it isn’t something that would likely appeal to me — so I did a little quick searching. There is a thread of DPR about it. It sounds like maybe you can try it free for a month or perhaps just by paying for a single month? I also found a thread on Reddit.
My own view — for my photography — is that I’m not so interested in trying to make digital look like film. I just want to make photographs look… like I want them to look. ;-)

Dan, the Reddit thread is about getting shiny nails 🙂, and the DPReview thread is about another program (a raw converter)
My apologies! I only clicked into them briefly. I wondered about the DPR thread — I just figured it was an earlier version of the app. And, yes, the Reddit thread — like so many of them these days — quickly went far off the rails.
I suppose that one clue might be… that virtually no one uses the app or knows anything about it! ;-)
I keep getting ads for these as well and have no idea if they are worth pulling the trigger on them. However, my ad settings definitely have me figured out.
