I've used the RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM for video for years and haven't heard any sounds from the control ring recorded by any of my mics (Sennheiser MKE 600 and MKE 440). And I edit with good headphones and monitors. Well, unless I bump the lens or camera I might hear a soft thump (easily removed with a HP filter). But I'll try the update as it is supposed have other small improvements.

I like the idea it converts the manual focus ring to a Control Ring which I would use. I don't do manual focus. Here's the Japanese link to download Windows version

The whole thing is confusing. How can #1 provide full time manual focus yet #2 provides for the focusing fing to be a control ring? Something has to give! I don't want to update the FW to find there is no manual focus. I never use a control ring even with two of the RF-EF adapters that have it. Is thet for videos?

I updated the FW to 2.0.7 and after a session, found no problems. Same AF performance as before, but I can use full-time MF override in both one-shot and AI servo. Before, it only allowed FTM in one-shot mode. Not a big deal, but once in a while, servo goes whacky, and being able to quickly dial it without titling the camera, switching to one-shot, or releasing the half-press might save a shot. You have to enable electronic FTM in the menu for the new feature to work.

This was the main reason why I returned my RF 24-105mm f4.0L a couple of years ago!! Had I known there was going to be a firmware update to address this issue, I probably would have kept it.

Has anyone found the list of the compatible cameras for the second feature? I have installed the firmware on my R6 mk2 but I don't see any difference in the control assignment menu.

I use the 24-105L on a R6 MK II and FTM in servo AF actually works but you have to enable it in the TAB menu.

Thanks, that part I did figure out and it is indeed a useful feature, but the assignment of the focus ring to other functions does not seem to the possible on that camera.

Is there a point to #1 if you use back button AF instead of AF on the shutter release? I'm diehard BBAF and I'm pretty sure all my lenses will do EFTMF in either One Shot (which I don't use at all) or AI Servo.
