I'm shooting a D850/D500 now but would like to add a Canon dSLR to my collection. I'm looking at a 5D ii, iii, or iv with a ef 24-105 f/4. Anyone shooting any of these 5D models and how do you like it. Or, should I be looking at something else.

The 5D IV is far better than the others, having a modern sensor compared to the older (pre-2016) Canon sensors. The 24-105/4 IS is not so good, though there is a version II that was a bit better. i mostly used the 24-70/4 IS or 24-70/2.8 II in the 5DsR/5D IV era.
The D850 had such a good sensor, I'm not sure what you are trying to do with late Canon DSLRs other than use some specifc lenses, but the 24-105/4 IS is not the best reason.

5d4 is still one of the top rentals at lensrentals, one of the most popular Canon bodies ever. 5DsR high resolution depending on what you are trying to do. 90D might be a great choice 32mp aps
Some people like the 5D, I've used 20d recently if you like retro. SL2 is nice , light
24-105/3.5-5.6 STM kit lens might be better than the L good Optical limits test imo.

Definitely the 5D4. I was in the opposite situation you're in and wanted a Nikon DSLR to add to my gear for those days of not shooting mirrorless and added the D850 just to see what it was like to use. Both cameras compliment each other well, and I can't say that I like one over the other, although the D850 with grip feels significantly heavier than the 5D4 with grip. Both are outstanding cameras and pure joy to use!

Another vote for the 5D4. Better autofocus than the 5D3 and 5DSR, and usable live view autofocus performance. Pleasure to hold in hand. I still miss shooting with the 24-70 2.8 L mk2 and 50 1.2 L. If you’re going for the 24-105 f4 the mk2 is noticeably sharper wide open

While the 1DX Mark III was the "best" DSLR Canon ever made, and the 5DSr has the sharpest, highest resolution sensor, the 5D Mark IV is certainly Canon's most well-rounded DSLR. If I were to pick one camera to recommend from among the non-1-series models, it would be the 5D Mark IV**.
Its sensor has expanded dynamic range compared to earlier models, and supports face tracking both through the viewfinder (Canon iTR) and in Live View shooting (Dual Pixel AF), and at 30Mp offers a useful bump in resolution over earlier models. (Canon iTR may or may not be as good as Nikon's 3D Tracking in the D850 though.)
I'll second the comments re. the 24-105 f/4. If you must own this lens, get the mark II version if possible. Other, maybe better options to consider are the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II and the EF 24-70 f/4L IS (a sleeper lens with some charm).
**Well, for personal work I would probably own a 6D, one of my favorite Canon DSLRs ever, as an intentional throwback to a simpler time. The camera lacked an AF joystick but didn't need one: only the center AF point was worth a damn, but boy, oh boy, could that camera nail focus with a focus/recompose technique. And the files were a joy to work with.

Agreed.
I'm not sure there's much you'd gain with a 5D, given the D850 is its Nikon counterpart.
For what its worth, the EF24-105mm f4L is a competent general walk around lens. It's not great, but given the price on the used market, it's quite reasonable. I bought one last year for travel and I've grown to love it just because it's such a versatile focal range.

I had the very first defecative shipment (Oct 3, 2005) of the 24-105/4 IS and then the replacement in January 2006. Corners and edges were unacceptable, not to mention terrible at 24mm. I basically replaced it with the 24-70/2.8 II and the 24-70/4 IS depending on the situation. I have little doubt that the IS II was better, but never got to that point.

I think a 5d4 would be quite similar in shooting experience to your D850. If you want to try something completely different, a 1DX3 is a lot of fun to use. Used ones can be had if you look around. I Wouldn’t pay the new full price for one. Not sure what your budget is btw.
I own both and I prefer the 1DX3’s 20mpx files over the 5D4’s 30mpx files. And the shooting experience is much better. IMO

While I don't have a 5D, but wish I had one, I did buy a Canon 90D new, just before they became hard to find, and have been quite happy with it. My other two DSLRs are both 77D, which I had initially bought new to shoot weddings with a 24-70 mm lens on one and a 75 - 300 mm on the other, but I gave up doing weddings after using them for just two weddings. I am getting older and I'm just not agile enough to move quickly for the good shots at weddings and receptions any more.
So one of these 77Ds has become my daily miscellaneous shooter and the other has been set up with a cage and dedicated for some in-studio video work. The 90D is what I use mostly for studio portrait shoots, etc. I don't have a mirrorless camera yet, mostly because these cameras that I have were all bought new just a few years ago, replacing several earlier digital cameras. Not sure I want a mirrorless camera either. I have many years of experience with DSLRs, even back in the film days, and I'm very comfortable using them. sometimes the latest, greatest isn't always the best direction to jump, and with what I have now I am quite happy. I'm certain that I will buy a mirrorless camera in the next few years, but really don't feel like I need one, yet. DSLRs have been very good to me.
