Tucked away in Orange County, Little Corona Beach is a hidden gem that remains blissfully quiet compared to the bustling shores of Newport and Huntington beach. Its iconic sea stacks offer a dramatic landscape that I am never tired of photographing.
This particular evening was nothing short of spectacular. The following series captures the transition of light as the sky erupted into a palette of vibrant colors—easily one of the most magical sunsets I’ve ever witnessed.
Thank you for viewing! I welcome all comments and critiques.
Little Corona Beach Sunset - this was a scene when I first arrived
Little Corona Beach Sunset - Once I saw the sky exploding with colors I move to left of !st image to capture the drama.
Little Corona Beach Sunset - The sky just got lit up, absolutely incredible!
Back to original spot to capture the light on sea stack
Back to spot #2 to catch the pink glow on foreground rocks
Oh my goodness, what a scene with that light. Just beautiful. The last one is my fav as it has it all - colour, light, motion, rock, water, sky, that come together in a stunning photo.
At first on image #1 I thought you were becoming a bird photographer and I was going to comment nice use of environment
What a neat little find and a nice comp you picked out.
#1 nice open comp, nice accent on rocks with water movement
#2 love how you handled the light balance, wonderful feel to the light
#3 takes #2 and amplifies what I said nicely! Gosh those colors and the water washing over the rocks leaving the coloring of the sky is a nice bonus. Maybe a wee bit of CC rotation needed?
#4 Wow! makes the hairs on my neck stand up! Electrifying color and sky, just stunning and rock formations are spectacular looking here
#5 Looks like a little line running out toward the sun in the water .... catches my eye and draws me outward .... could even lighten that area a wee bit??
You had the place to yourself, thanks for sharing it

Spectacular indeed, Parul! Every one is a gem, but if I had to pick I think it’s the last one for me due to the way the foreground rocks are lit up. Very well composed! Thank you for sharing the inspiration.

Thanks Guy, the light and colors were insane. Right place at the right time and luckily I had the place to myself.

While this location is not in my backyard, it’s a quick ride down PCH. I check on the conditions on a weekly basis and hope for anything close to the lighting you have captured here. Very nice work!
Were there a lot of other photographers there that day? On days like this you usually have to fight for a clean angle.

Thanks Derrick, the scene with the light I was blessed with was just a joy to photograph. Glad you enjoyed viewing the set.

Karl, as always appreciate your detailed feedback. I will double check #3 for horizon level. I have been to this location several times but never have I ever experienced this type of light show. There are always lots of photographer but this day the place belonged to me

Thanks Ross, glad you liked the composition as that's an area that I continue to struggle. The light on the rocks was so special, I was truly blessed with some incredible light show.

Thanks Bob, this particular beach is spectacular and there are so many compositions to be made. There is a nice arch but I have not had good luck with lighting yet. You need to check it out.
