GGO are a pretty rare visitor to the area where I live so getting an opportunity to photograph one was a real privilege. I had photographed this individual a couple of times before but in each case the perches were not that great so when I came across him again and he was perched on a classic GGO perch I was thrilled to say the least. I spent about half a day watching him as he scanned the snow covered woods for prey, he managed to catch a couple of voles during the session. The snow was approximately 2 feet deep in that location yet he was able to hear and target his prey successfully, pretty amazing.
