The "Weekly Assignment was for "Rainbows". To date, nothing this nice has appeared.
While I have seen numerous "sun dogs" in the Westerly sky mid-afternoon to late afternoon this Winter...also "rainbows"..circumzeniethal arcs...... something or other...here in mid-Western Maryland they are many if the sky is right.
Not the best images..more abstract...this time of year years ago.Jet in view is headed due South to you Carol!

Edited in Nik Color Efx Pro...meh???
This was fascinating to see evolve before the shutter release. Those are expended jet vapor trails that became clouds..North, South, East and West
Thanks for posting these Dan, it jarred my memory. Santa Fe gets those crystalized rainbows( aka Sun dogs) often during winter and early spring...I was picturing a full rainbow for some reason. Silly me
With how cold (34degrees one day) it has been here there was likely a chance of one of them showing up here in Florida...but I wasn't looking up to check. All I wanted to do was stay inside. lol

You are welcome Carol.
I keep my eyes "glued" to the West from Winter to Summer. It is full of wonders. I live in a "bowl". Everything rises up around me.
Yes you are correct...the rainbow has more colors. The "arc" is a full rainbow in colors..A "smiley face" if you will.
Sun dogs are very plentiful all year but especially during the colder months.
Stay warm down there!
