I just returned from another trip to Ecuador. This trip I spent much of my time in the East, working in the Amazon lowlands, along with a couple of days in the North West outside of Mindo
Photography in the Amazon is a very different challenge compared to the more established feeder setups in the Andes. Many of the birds do not visit feeders, so locating subjects requires trekking through dense forest and shooting in heavily shaded conditions. Light levels were often extremely low, especially under the canopy.
A mix of images from the Amazon and western Ecuador — hope you enjoy.
Very nice shots! I completely get your challenge as I’m currently in Noel Kempff Mercado national park in Bolivia. Unlike you, I’m trying to shoot from boats with mixed success. It’s clearly evident what you’re up against as in most cases I can only see several meters into the vegetation. It’s toward the end of the rainy season here so it’s about as thick as it gets. Hoping to come back in late April when things are dried up a bit and the wildlife will start moving back toward the rivers. There are some great trails that I hope to check out too on the next trip; entered on a couple of them this time, but turned back from heavy rains.

Superb imaging! Each picture is worthy of its own post. If the lighting was a challenge, I can't tell, Bravo!
Thank you for that compliment, Jeffrey, much appreciated.
